SPORTS IN THE YEAR 2010, A BRIEF REVIEW

-The FIFA World Cup was one of the more interesting sporting events I have watched in recent memory.

People from all around the world not only came to South Africa, but watched their countries compete against each other.

Spain earned a long-waited World Cup trophy and capped off a month that has helped the interest in soccer grow in the United States.

-The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics battled against each other for an NBA Championship for the second time in three years.

In the end, Kobe Bryant led the charge as the Lakers repeated as champs.

-Many athletes in 2010 have seen a dramatic fall in their historic figure. Out of all Tiger Woods has worse    though.

The scandal was a constant theme within the media which lasted for quite a few months.

Most importantly, there was no success on the golf course amid this controversy.

Woods did not win a single major in 2010, as he intended to spend more time with his children.
-One of the biggest chokes in recent memory involved Brett Favre against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Title game.

Favre threw an interception in overtime that resulted in a loss to the eventual champions, and a downfall on the months proceeding that.

Overall, 2010 is a year Brett Favre never wants to remember.
-The return of Michael Vick in 2010 as one of the league's best players is something no one imagined.

Vick was able to put behind his troubled past and was able to perform at a very high level.

Despite the criticism he still receives for his crimes, Vick has owned up to it and is making sure he does not blow his second chance in the NFL.

-LeBron James made the biggest splash of all, in front of national television with his former fans from Cleveland watching.

In the end James decided to team up with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh to form a Superteam in Miami.

The NBA landscape has changed in many ways as the result of this year's free agency period, as many other stars found new homes as well.

However, James went from being one of the more loved players in basketball to arguably the most hated man in sports.
-The biggest sports moment of 2010 was the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl.

The Saints had a successful regular season, and followed up their success by defeating Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

The city of New Orleans, who continue to battle the effects of Hurricane Katrina, look up to the Saints as the savior who sought to never give up until they achieved the ultimate goal.
One year later, the Saints are looking to repeat the same success as Super Bowl champions.
