QUICK BITES

-US economic reports Thursday were mostly positive.Unemployment claims edge down, and consumer spending went up.

- President Obama said Wednesday that he will persist in pushing a bill to legalize some illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.

-The chief of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy agency will not appear in any US court in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani declared Thursday.

-North Korea is ready for a "sacred war of justice" using a nuclear deterrent, its armed forces minister has said.

-Beijing announced a package of detailed rules on Thursday to ease its growing traffic gridlock, the rumors of which had caused frenzy car buying this month. The city will only allow 240,000 vehicles to be registered next year.
